Cranial Facial Release (CFR) in Skillman NJ

Cranial Facial Release is one of the most powerful and least understood procedures available in chiropractic care and Dr. Sojitra is the only provider in New Jersey certifiably trained to deliver it.

Cranial Facial Release in Princeton, NJ

Dr. Sojitra doesn’t treat symptoms in isolation. Every care plan starts by understanding the nervous system, brain, and biological conditions driving your pain — then addresses root causes, not surface-level relief.

What Cranial Facial Release Does

At the center of the skull sits the sphenoid bone, a butterfly-shaped structure that twelve cranial nerves pass through or around. When its position is disrupted, it causes neurological dysfunction, restricted breathing, impaired cerebrospinal fluid flow, and wide-ranging symptoms. While standard chiropractic adjusts the spine, targeting the lower 20% of the nervous system, CFR addresses the remaining 80% –  the cranial nerves, cranial bones, sphenoid, and nasal passages influencing brain function and breathing.

Small, specialized balloons are briefly inflated inside the nasal passages to mobilize the cranial bones and sutures, providing a release unachievable by other means. Combined with intraoral cranial work and SOT technique, a CFR series reaches the brain and nervous system directly. Dr. Sojitra is the only provider in New Jersey delivering this procedure at this level of training, attending advanced CFR conferences annually and completing the highest level of official certification directly from the founder – elite level 3.

How Cranial Facial Release Works

CFR is performed as a procedure series one complete series addresses all six nasal passages, three on each side. It can be completed in a single day for traveling patients, over two to three consecutive days, or spread across separate visits for local patients.

Before the procedure

The standard Day 1 evaluation is conducted with one addition: PNIF testing Peak Nasal Inspiratory Flow which measures nasal airway function and provides an objective baseline. Dr. Sojitra re-measures PNIF after each balloon passage so patients can see their airway improvement in real time.

The procedure

A small balloon is inserted into the nasal passage and briefly inflated taking a fraction of a second to mobilize the cranial bones and sutures from within. Six passages are performed in total. Following the balloon work, Dr. Sojitra performs intraoral cranial adjusting and SOT pelvic block technique to address the sacro-cranial connection.

What patients experience

Most describe a brief pressure sensation followed by an immediate sense of opening or release. Many notice improved breathing after the first passage. Some feel clarity or lightness in the head. Patients who have suppressed old trauma occasionally experience an emotional release a recognized response Dr. Sojitra is experienced in working through.

Recommended series

Three to five series is the recommended range for most patients. Straightforward breathing or structural goals may achieve significant results in one series. Complex neurological or long-standing conditions typically benefit from the full protocol.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cranial Facial Release

Is the balloon procedure painful?
Most patients describe a brief pressure or fullness in the nasal passage lasting a second. It is not painful for the vast majority of patients. Dr. Sojitra has performed CFR on patients with no nasal septum and severely scarred nasal tissue without significant discomfort.
Is CFR safe?
Yes, when performed by a trained provider. The balloons are specifically designed for this procedure, inflation is brief and controlled, and the technique is calibrated to each patient’s anatomy. Dr. Sojitra is the only provider in New Jersey with advanced CFR training.
How many series do I need?
Three to five series for most complex conditions. More straightforward cases may see significant improvement in one series. Dr. Sojitra sets a specific recommendation after the evaluation.
Can CFR help if I've had nasal surgery?
In most cases, yes. Prior nasal surgery is not a contraindication. Dr. Sojitra assesses the anatomy individually before proceeding.
Is CFR covered by insurance?

Princeton Spine Disc and Chiropractic is out-of-network and CFR is not covered by standard insurance plans. Patients with PPO plans may submit claims for potential reimbursement. Payment options are reviewed at the Day 2 visit.
